OSP

OSP stands for Open Source Portfolio. The Open Source Portfolio Initiative (OSPI) is a community of individuals and organizations collaborating on the development of a non-proprietary, open source electronic portfolio software environment.

Learners and instructors
Individual learners and instructors use the electronic portfolio system as a repository to store and organize digital evidence of teaching and learning. Like a web-based file system, users can upload files of any type, organize them in folders, and then reference them in presentations or compositions they design to share with a particular audience or multiple audiences.

For individual students and instructors, the portfolio system provides a convenient and accessible space and the tools to represent individual learning and competencies.

pebblePad

The commercial available PebblePad system provides 6 structured input forms designed to accommodate recording of the kind of skills, experiences and reflections typical of most learning experiences. Additionally users can add any external file type to their asset store. Records and files stored in the system are easily aggregated into WebFolios and all can be selectively shared with others through user-defined permissions.

All of the assets and collections can be shared with other people, either inside or outside of an institution for user-defined periods of time. Sharing allows users to invite others to access the assets they share with permissions to view, comment, copy or collaborate on individual records or collections like WebFolios. The collaboration facility means, for example, that users working on a joint project can collectively create assets.

To enable students to understand their studenting skills an Individual Learning Profile tool is included. Students rate their competency against a series of key study skills resulting in a report highlighting strengths and areas for possible development. The development plan for PebblePad includes a tool to allow teachers to create additional profiles and share these with their students.
